As listeners of “Healing From Within” are well aware Sheryl and her guests share intimate stories and experiences in the hopes of becoming more aware of life in its multi dimensional capacity to realign our energetic and physical aspects so we might engage all challenges with the spiritual tools and awareness expanding to higher consciousness and begin to create the life we hope. We may discover that as spiritual beings having a physical life in search of Higher Self and to refine our heart or soul essence we are quite well equipped within our soul remembrances able to manifest what brings us happiness and joy through our creative efforts.

In today’s episode Nomi Bachar will touch on a wide range of subjects—relationships self-love emotions, celebration magic and transformation as we reflect on the wisdom of our human journey towards healing and wholeness.

When Sheryl asks Nomi to think back to her childhood and remember a person place event or value that they thought highly of and that left a lasting impression on her Nomi tells us of one of her teachers in a small school in Israel many years ago before the country had grown into the place it is now and she says that the teacher was well dressed and elegant as well as exuding confidence and a joy in the work and life she was living and sharing and little Nomi wanted to be like her and bring joy and wisdom to other. As a teenager Nomi was a soldier in the Israeli army and fighting only lead her to desire peace. She then developed her acting and musical abilities and came to the United States to study with a famous New York teacher. She did well but at some point it was suggested to her that she should develop her healing work and she became a psychotherapist helping many to discover ways to live with their earlier life traumas and to develop new ways to thrive and explore life.

Sheryl suggests that many people may not be aware of how hard the Israeli people have worked over the last seventy years to build a nation that can thrive and deliver freedom to their people and have brought modernization to the area which can benefit other nations if they allow for peace and personal and community growth for all.

Nomi begins to tell us about her new book, Let the Heart Speak and she says the title encourages people to remember their heart wisdom because often people concern themselves with their thoughts and mind based ideas and think the heart might lead them astray…

She writes that we are blessed with three precious gifts bestowed on us by the Creative Source….

  1. Freedom to choose the way we lead our lives
  2. The ability to create and express
  3. The desire to give and receive love
The heart seeks to honor these gifts by recognizing the emotional part of ourselves learning that often that part of our heart based awareness is repressed and criticized by Survival oriented and over-protective Defensive Self. The Defensive Self is trying hard to “make us lovable, successful and perfect. It is trying to compensate for lack of self-esteem and emotional vulnerability. Naturally, it is more concerned with our image and other’s approval of us rather than with our well-being. However our expanded heart essence is the wise loving and healing aspect that can help us relax the Defensive Self and free the Emotional Self and help us establish peace and balance. We are beautiful communicators when we communicate lovingly with ourselves.

Nomi goes on to share that an important quality of the heart is the giving and receiving of love which is the most nourishing and life affirming exchange between individuals.

The Ten Commandments of Loving Communication are:
  1. Know Yourself: Find out how you feel what you need and what you believe in so you can communicate it.
  2. Commit to creating connections Take responsibility for the success of your communications. Be the cause the initiator the giver.
  3. Avoid reactivity When faced with a strong emotion take a minute to figure it out. Get clear and strive to create a constructive way to communicate
  4. Cultivate empathy Extend empathy to yourself and others
  5. Be Clear Be authentic and expressive and use the four Magic I’s I Think I Feel I Need I Want….avoid blaming dumping judging or telling others what to do.
  6. Show appreciation Validate your partners Use listening and mirroring skills, show respect and consideration. You can still maintain your beliefs with this approach.
  7. Be reliable Say what you mean and mean what you say. Integrity cultivates mutual trust
  8. Learn to negotiate Create win- win situations.
  9. Tap into your humor and playfulness
  10. Let go of the need to be right, in control or on top Connection and the exchange of understanding are so much more fulfilling.
Nomi asks us to remember Whitney Houston a great beautiful loving artist who lost her battle to stress and addiction and gives a summary of some elements that cause stress in us which can lead to unhappiness and even damaging self behavior,

Low self-esteem Unresolved inner conflicts, inner pain and trauma Repressed feelings Chronic habit of worry and anxiety Lack of trust in one’s self and the direction of one’s life Critical harsh or shaming self-dialogue Poor communication skills

Poor organization and management skills Poor management of commitments: time physical financial and social goal and obligations.

We are all prone to stress. It is inevitable. However we can reduce it by becoming aware of what is stressing us and making a conscious effort to eliminate as much as possible.

Nomi goes on to discuss the three aspects of the self.

Let’s contemplate the three levels of being: the Spirit, the Soul and the Personality.

The Spirit is the divine spark which emanates and gives life to everything in the universe. It is the loving fabric of all that exists. All individual souls are directly connected to One Spirit. Each one of us can receive guidance insight and wisdom from it if we choose to.

The personality is made of our Emotional Self and Defense Self. These two parts of us should be guided by our Expanded Self and not vice versa.

Our soul encompasses all three aspects.

Actions of greed, destruction, and corruption happen when people are not consulting, their soul’s wisdom. When we operate from negative desires and impulses drive by our defensive and emotional limitations, we destroy not create.

We are not isolated beings, we are all connected and interwoven with each other. If some of us are being destructive, we are all affected.

In Nomi’s first book The 7 Gates of Power she described the structure for how to think of your daily needs. Here they are, categorized from the most basic to the highest. They are all important and when met we are able to function in a safe mind and heart connection and to fulfill our goals dreams and life purpose. It takes consistency and reflection on these parts of life that must be acknowledged honored and respected for health and prosperity.

Security Needs

Social Needs

Physiological Needs

Cognitive Needs

Aesthetic Needs

Self Actualization

Spiritual Needs

The most amazing gift is that we can fulfill all these needs. All we need to do is be clear about what they are, be open to receive, and commit to their fulfillment When we are working well with fulfilling our needs we are more able to develop our many talents and spiritual gifts which are listed here.

Here are the 7 gifts or talents that are given:
  1. Abilities and Passions
  2. Guidance Intuition and Spiritual Sense
  3. Physical Comfort
  4. Emotional Support and Confidence
  5. Knowledge
  6. Creativity and Beauty
  7. Community
Many of the wonderful people Nomi has met have shown her how to fight the good fight without it wearing down on you soul. Nourish yourself by filling up the treasure chest of your soul and keep a smile on your face. Here are some tips to keep you happy.

Great Memories: Enjoy your moments and internalize the beauty. Open your heart and your consciousness. Record the moments internally.

Magic Moments: At the end of the day choose one major moment. It can be as simple as the glimpse of the sky or playing with a dog. Acknowledge it and store it in your heart.

Victories: Acknowledge one big victory of the day like saying no when it was definitely what you needed to say or saying yes to something that frightens or challenges you.

Gratitude: During your day take a moment to stop close your eyes and think of three things for which you are truly grateful.

Nomi shares One of the most important elements in cultivating loving relationships is communication. Most of us struggle with finding our emotional voice. Sometimes, it’s because we are scared to speak from our hearts or don’t know what the heart wants. Other times we get stuck in our pride and defensiveness.

The keys to communication are simple as long as we remember to use them. Below are some tips derived from my 10 Commandments for Successful Communication
  1. Commit to creating connections Take responsibility for the success of your communications. Be the cause, the initiator the giver.
  2. Cultivate empathic listening. Extend that to listening to yourself and others. Empathy helps you understand and accept. It enhances transformation and change.
  3. Avoid reactivity When faced with strong emotions and intense reactions, take a minute to figure yourself out. Get clear and strive to create a constructive way to communicate.
  4. Learn to negotiate Create win-win situations. It is best for all those involved.
  5. Show appreciation Do whatever you can to validate your loves ones. Use listening and mirroring skills, show respect and consideration. You can still maintain your beliefs and stand up for them. One has nothing to do with the other.
Communication is an art. Keep experimenting and go through the trials and tribulations. Not only will your loved ones enjoy it, but you will enjoy it as well. And, isn’t that the goal—to be happy, open and expressive.

Nomi would like people to know themselves in their totality or unlimited potential as a divine eternal soul of universal expansion and unlimited love compassion and change.

Nomi wrote, “Daily we identify with our body, our personality, our temperament our possessions and we need to keep reminding ourselves that within the house of our familiar self, resides “The Self.” A spark of the great creative force, the universal consciousness lives within us, expressing itself through us. It guides us protects us, and provides for us. When you treasure and love yourself, you are honoring and loving that divine spark, which is the center of your being.”

To know love and loving feelings are wonderful and we must learn to match them with loving actions. Nomi wrote, “Most people want to know “true love” and we can describe this as ways to enhance the emotional and physical well-being of another, to support their desires and dreams. If we are not enhancing a loved one in a tangible consistent manner our love feelings are like seeds, but are not bearing fruit. Love is powerful: it can save a loved one’s life literally, emotionally and spiritually. As we mature, we hopefully learn to find ways to impact each other positively and generously.”

“We have to admit that people of all ages make the same mistake of not matching their love feelings with their love actions. If your loved one does not feel nurtured respected and considered check your love actions. They are somehow not registering in your loved one’s heart.

Nomi would also want us to consider….”Being present and being dedicated to their own personal self-evolution is what I hope others begin to embrace. I have realized that everything that happens to us personally and in the world presents opportunities to change in some way. So living with an open heart is a very important gift for each of us. That means that we are moved by stirred by and inspired by things that happen within us and in the world: nature, the seasons, the holidays, tragedies as well as the graciousness of people.”

Nomi shares “Self-Love Rehab Steps” to strengthen your own sense of Being.

In learning to transcend the difficulties of the modern times we must pay attention to Self-love and rehabilitate ourselves by establishing loving dialogue with ourselves for if we don’t our attitude or chip on our shoulder causes a ripple effect in the universal emotional realm. We need to discover what we need to feel do and know in order to feel our best. We need to discover ways to weather the storm or challenges and be grounded in life and appreciative to our loved ones and community. We must live a life of contribution and service and actions done out of love.

We must also look at violence and find what makes people nations and groups make us angry. Groups are made of individuals. Each of us can contribute to the violence or peace. We must take an honest look at ourselves and discover when we may feel like a victim or have our space and well being invaded or disrupted and anger surfaces. Moving away from the victim state of mind helps you to take responsibility for what you wish to create. It is also important to learn to give ourselves the compassion we need and to become self-reliant while still welcoming support from friends. Learn to have fun all by yourself and be your best friend then you will find yourself more relaxed in relationships with others.

We also need to take a step toward “Authenticity” as authenticity is not encouraged in a society that is addicted to image. Striving to look good is the opposite of being authentic. Unfortunately our culture and media focus on nothing more than image and an image has nothing to do with the truth of one’s being. Loving yourself is not about loving your façade or physical life or the ego or the Defensive Self “The Defensive Self” is the part of us concerned with survival and safety and seek recognition validation and reassurance. This aspect of ourselves is formed at a young age at a time we look to secure love at any cost. When finally learn as an adult to be self-reliant without the assurances of others which are in addition to what we already have within us. Then we are on our way to living and being authentic true to our own needs.

Nomi Bachar author of Let The Heart Speak a book that opens up ways to open your heart awareness to new perceptions of life that can empower and change or transform your energy so you can engage a new range of ideas about relationships self-love emotions celebrations magic and the majesty of life and love.

In summarizing today’s episode of Healing From Within we have shared many new ways to engage our heart and find what inspires us so we may perhaps discover our life path or destiny and enlarge our framework for wisdom and peace as we move on our journey to wholeness and heal the traumas or misconceptions of our earlier childhood traumas and revel in the magic of joy happiness and awareness of who we are and how we have the potential and possibilities for creating an authentic and healthy life already within our energy and soul aspects leading us to greater confidence self-esteem and self-love.
